Who can open a Virgin Deposit Account?
Can I have a joint deposit account?
Yes you can, as long as the cheque or current account that we'll link your deposit account to , is also in the same joint names.
What is the current interest rate?
Our current interest rate is 4% gross (AER 4%)*.
The rate of interest is variable and may change in the future. Rate correct as of today's date.
* AER stands for Annual Equivalent Rate and illustrates what the interest rate would be if the interest is paid and compounded on an annual basis. As our interest is paid annually, the rate is the same as the Annual Equivalent Rate. The rate shown is on a gross basis i.e. before the deduction of tax at source. However our interest is paid net of lower rate tax.
You earn interest on the cleared daily balance of your account* and we pay it to you once a year. Interest is paid into your Virgin Deposit Account, unless you tell us otherwise.
*Your money takes two business days to clear and then it starts earning interest.
